ONCE THERE WAS A FACTORY

This collection is inspired by history — the story of a once-forgotten industrial giant, formerly the second largest heavy industry factory in Europe.

Many know it as Csepel Works, but before World War II it was called Weiss Manfréd Works. At its peak, it employed 25,000 people and had its own airport, internal railway network, maternity ward, hospital, public kitchen, and even its own newspaper.

But the story of the factory is not only about the wealth brought by war industry. It is just as much about ingenuity, perseverance, innovation, and loss. Although the Weiss family was forced to flee abroad after the rise of the Nazi regime, and today the walls are crumbling, the windows broken, and nature slowly reclaiming the space, even after 100 years, their remarkable legacy can still be felt.
